About StructureCalcs

StructureCalcs is a free, open-access suite of structural engineering calculators built for engineers, students, and anyone who needs quick, reliable structural analysis results. Our mission is to make professional-grade analysis tools accessible to everyone, without requiring expensive software licences or complex setup.

All computations happen locally in your browser — no data is sent to any server. Your models and results remain entirely on your device, ensuring complete privacy. Save your models as files to reload later or share with colleagues, and export professional PDF reports for documentation.

The site supports both SI (metric) and Imperial unit systems, and includes a built-in database of over 2,600 steel sections from six international standards: AS4100 (Australian), AISC (American), EN10365 (European), BS4 (British), JIS (Japanese), and IS808 (Indian). This makes StructureCalcs useful for projects governed by any of these codes.

Which design standards are supported?

The steel section libraries include over 2,600 sections from six international standards: AS4100 (391 sections), AISC (1,687 sections), EN10365 (296 sections), BS4 (103 sections), JIS (105 sections), and IS808 (104 sections). While the calculators perform structural analysis (determining forces and deflections), they do not perform design checks to a specific code. You should verify member capacities separately using the applicable standard.

How accurate are the results?

The calculators use the direct stiffness method, the same mathematical foundation used by professional finite-element software. For linear elastic analysis of beams and trusses, the results are exact within the assumptions of the model (Euler–Bernoulli beam theory for beams, pin-jointed axial elements for trusses). Always verify critical results with independent calculations.

Is my data private?

Yes. All calculations run locally in your browser. No data is sent to any server. Your models, inputs, and results remain entirely on your device.

StructureCalcs works in all modern browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend using the latest version of your browser for the best experience.

Can I use these calculators for professional work?

The calculators are provided as a free tool and are suitable for preliminary analysis, education, and quick checks. For final design, professional engineers should verify results using independent methods and exercise their own engineering judgement. StructureCalcs is not a substitute for professional structural engineering software or the review of a qualified engineer.
